Exceptional food in a warm and inviting setting

This supposedly upscale restaurant served dessert in a broken glass container. Spent the rest of the evening in Stevenage A&E. When we wrote to complain the companies solicitors responded rudely unapologetically and aggressively by saying we had broken the glass on purpose. Either the dish was not fit for purpose and could be broken with the tiny teaspoon it was served with or it was broken before it left the kitchen. Either way my husbands birthday was ruined. No wonder this group keeps going into receivership with an attitude to customer service like this. An absolute disgrace and Health & Safety standards should be aware of this restaurants negligence.

Without going into too much detail there was a shaky start to our Christmas treat which left me slightly anxious about what we would experience at dinner. We need not have worried, we had a fantastic dinner opting for the tasting menu with superb wines chosen by Emily. We had a very personal service which included a visit from Matt. The food was superb, the service exceptional and the evening turned out to be the special treat we wanted it to be. Good luck with all your plans for the future guys we will definitely be recommending Auberge for that special occasion.

Attended the venue for family celebration. Lovely venue, great ambience. Staff very attentive and helpful. Menu choice quite varied. Food well prepared and presented. Portion sizes, I feel, of each serving were very small even by nouveau cuisine standards. And while it was a special occasion it was also very expensive. Would go again but it would have to be a very special occasion.

What a surprise! I booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday, for a Sunday lunch. Needless to say we had a fantastic time. The staff was welcoming and the location amazing (what a view the lake). We got seated and had great food and wine. We had trout and crab as starter and the roast beef for main; we finished with the gingerbread sandwich and an hazelnut polenta cake as dessert, all incredibly tasty. We had a coffee to finish, perfectly made for my Italian palate. They brought us a happy birthday pair of chocolates for my wife's birthday, with a candle: much appreciated. After lunch we went for a walk, beautiful scenery. I'll definitely plan some tee time up there. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for a celebration or just a great meal.
